Friends and neighbors are invited to bring chairs or a blanket and picnic to enjoy these free Friday evening concerts – held from 6pm to 8pm.
At our first summer concert on Friday, June 20 (rain date June 27) – one of the best bluegrass bands in Philadelphia, The Lewis Brothers, will return to Fitler Square Park to play a mix of music that includes traditional bluegrass, folk, country and even rock and roll. The Lewis Brothers band members, led by Wanamaker Lewis, play banjo, mandolin, bass, and guitar. We want to give a shoutout to neighborhood friend and Lewis Brother band member, Peter Lorch, for his help in arranging this concert.
The Philly five-piece band, Mandy Valentine will perform on Friday, July 25 (rain date Aug 8). Mandy Valentine’s lead singer, Missy Pidgeon, inspired by honky tonk favorites, plays a mix of retro-flavored originals along with covers of classic country singers, 60s girl groups, and artists such as Elvis, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, and Buddy Holly.
KAMARA will be featured Friday, August 22 (no rain date). The band has frequently performed in the park — as part of our concert series last summer and at our fundraising events. Fitler Square resident, Ed Kamarauskas, and his band have been performing in our neighborhood parks, and local venues for over ten years, playing original, new flamenco, ethno-jazz, some classic rock, and 1970s pop/rock music.
